How many solar panels for a 3.5 kVA inverter?
The inverter size does not decide the number of panels. Your daily energy use does. Two homes with the same 3.5 kVA inverter can need very different solar.
Start from your daily kWh
Add up how many hours each appliance runs in a day, times its watts. That gives your daily energy in kWh — the same unit on your NEPA bill.
Many 3-bedroom homes use 5 to 10 kWh a day.
How much a panel makes in Nigeria
Most of Nigeria gets about 4 to 5 good sun hours a day. A 1 kW array of clean, well-placed panels makes roughly 4 kWh on a sunny day.
So a home using 8 kWh a day needs about 2 kW of panels — around four large modern panels.
What about NEPA hours?
If you get several hours of grid a day, the grid can charge your battery too, so you may need less solar. With little or no grid, size the solar to cover the full day.
